Speak to you local CAB. I thought it was an offence to stop a cheque that had been issued in good faith. I always understood it was easier to sue on a bad cheque than to prove the debt as the cheque was in effect an admission. Small Claims Court is cheap and you can elect to have it heard near you.

I asked a similar question on the Pontiac Fiero forum about a year ago. I got a long answer with calculations to show that the power taken out of the engine to produce the electricity was greater than any extra engine power obtained ! Julian

Fostek Engineering can do this to shorten half shafts instead of re cutting the splines BUT they need a straight shaft to work on as of course it spins very fast. I wanted them to do some work for me but my shafts were not true. Julian

I avoided all of this by changing to an Aldon electronic unit. Very simple mod as it fits in place of the points. I also bought a new coil from them to be sure. I had a missfire before but this cured it and it even seems to sound better!!

Sorry to be dim but I thought the Cortina has a 48 inch axle which means cutting 1 inch off each end not just half inch. Julian

I had been having big missfire problems. Virtualy each journey was a trip into the unknown as to if I would get home !!
Changed to Aldon mag type electonic (10 minute job as it just fits in place of the points) and since then it sounds better and more even and no missfires. Julian

As an alternative, I can get an Atlas 50 inches wide. Does anyone know a company that could narrow it for me, preferably not too far from here in Dunstable. Julian

This probably a long shot but does anyone have a 48" Ford Atlas axle available, pref with 3.4 final drive. This is needed for Mk2 Cortina. Julian

Ignition timing

Where should the timing be set on a Rover V8 (late P6).
Timing light shows at 3 degrees BTDC is this OK.

You should also tell trading Standards as they may already have a file open.
