My 4.6 was built by John Eales and had big valve heads,piper 270 cam and an edelbrock inlet manifold/500cfm carb.I had it in a Westfield and made it go like stink.
The idea behind the 4.8 is that it is going in a Land Rover 110 where torque will be be more important.

That's pretty impressive.I spent a load on tuning a 4.6 and it still only made 260bhp.

I might give him a try.Was it a worthwhile exercise?

I think you could just bolt on an SD1 front cover.

Does anyone know if the 4.8 stroker kit is still available for the 2 bolt main/small diameter bearing Rover V8?
Does anyone have any experience of the conversion?

I think he would like a chevy in it but we are not sure of how to link it up with the LT85 gearbox.He doesn't want an auto 'box.

My other brother has a 4.6 in his 109 stage 1.That is running with 1 3/4 SUs and it seems to go well.
I think he wants a bit more oomph for towing and probably sibling rivalry is involved as well!

Sounds like the 4.6 is the way to go.I was aware of the need for the crank spacer but didn't know about the crossbolt interfering with the oil pump. He is thinking of getting a long block from John Eales[good idea?]. As he can't use the 4.6 cam which one would you recommend? Also will the HIF44 carb...

Not too sure if mpg would improve.My brother has a stage 1 and he used to get 18mpg with the original 3.5 with restrictors removed.He now has a 4.6 in it and the mpg is the same.

Take the restrictors out of the inlet manifold[if they are still in] and you should get 132bhp.

I am doing the head gaskets on my 110 V8.Is it necessary to change the head bolts or a waste of money?The engine is 1989 and I think the stretch bolts came in around 1993/94.

My brother has a brand new 4.6 engine fitted to his 109.He has a lightish knock when the engine is warm.He fitted a cam retention plate which made no difference.He reckons one spark plug is cleaner than the rest.Could this be a slipped liner causing the knock?It is fitted with the twin SUs it had or...
