My brother has a 3.9 small journal engine and was wondering if the Reel Steel 4.8 stroker kit is still available for this.He is planning on getting top hat liners fitted.I stripped the engine down myself and the main bearing caps feel nice and tight.Do you reckon it is a good idea to rebuild it as a 4.8?[It will be going in a Land Rover 110].

The Real Steel Stroker kit is not available. I tried to buy a set of stroker piston on Monday and was told they have been having trouble getting the crankshafts done so havent bothered keeping stock of the other parts. They havent had the stroker kit available for about 10 months I think.

I had a 4.8 Rover engine based on a 3.9 block. I used John Eales for my parts, new crank and pistons and used 3.8 rods. Quite reasonable price too at the time compared to real steel. HTH
