Rover V8 serp oil pump relief valve

Post by Bart »

Hi all,

I want to replace the oil pressure relief valve for my 5L build. I have the interim Serp cover with Dizzy.

The plunger/piston and spring don't look like they are available anywhere. I have read that they never were. All you could get was an entire new front cover, apparently?

I reckon I can pick up a suitable spring of a similar rate, but not sure about the plunger.

It looks very similar to the plunger for 300TDI, which Rimmers do have.

Does anyone know for certain whether it is infact the same part, or could be used interchangeably?

My plunger doesn't look too bad, just some slight wear marks on it that I cannot feel with my finger Not scored, so may end up reusing it if I can't get one.

Any help greatly appreciated :)

I think I would just clean and re-use making sure they aren't tight.
If they were compatible I would expect RimmerBros to also list the V8 in suitable applications.

This might be interesting:

I ordered a 300TDI one from Ebay. It does indeed look the same. But it's twice the size

I tickled the old one with some Autosol, and there wasn't a mark on it, so I re used it.
