Megasquirt 2 cooling fan control

Post by Spongo »

Anyone know what current the cooling fan output on the MS2 can handle, I know it can only operate a relay but will it handle 350ma ?

Since there's not a dedicated cooling fan relay driver (as there is for the fuel pump), do you know how it's been done? If you're not using the Fidle valve driver for that purpose, that would be the norm to use for a fan.

The pump and Fidle relay drivers are identical, and can handle 1 amo if a ZTX 450 is used, or 800mA if a 2n2222.

But if a driver has been added from a spare port, you'd perhaps have to check just how it's been done. I'd expect that mod from a decent supplier to use a 2n2222 - so you should be ok.

Is it to drive two relays in parallel?

It is the FIDLE and yes its for 2 relays in parallel, i measured the current to operate them and its circa 350ma so it looks like I can drive both directly from the MS :P
