Who would want to replace a 2JZ Supra engine with a V8? As much as I love 8 pots, the supra engine is legendary- been tuned to over 2000bhp now, over 400 as standard in factory turbod supras!V8Smudge wrote:If you need any advice on the Lexus V8 install, and/or wiring, then give Thor Racing a call, they put the V8 lumps into Supras.

Because a 2000bhp 4+ litre V8 is going to perform better all round, than a 2000bhp 3.0 engine.topcatproduction wrote:Who would want to replace a 2JZ Supra engine with a V8? Just because two engines can make the same power, doesnt mean they do it in the same way.
And both engines do sound fantastic, and being Toyota are superbly engineered.

I was just meaning that most people are happy with a few hundred bhp and seems like a lot more work and effort to swap an engine when the existing one is easily capable. I understand exactly what you're saying- but at even 800bhp a 2JZ-GTE engine isn't stressed and could still be a daily driver! I'm sure people have their reasons though.

This option is mainly for the non-turbo, and auto Supra owners.topcatproduction wrote:Who would want to replace a 2JZ Supra engine with a V8? As much as I love 8 pots, the supra engine is legendary- been tuned to over 2000bhp now, over 400 as standard in factory turbod supras!
