Hi guys could and body please tell me what auto gearbox's fit the 3.5 rover v8 engine that are for 2 wheel drive.
I no the rover p5 and p6 and the rover sd1 but what else will fit thanks for any help in advance.

you're much better off converting a Jag or BMW box to fit the Rover - undo the bellhousing and bolt on the replacement. To do 4WD Range Rover to 2WD requires stripping and re-building the box and the output shafts and housings from a 2WD box.
You just need the torque convertor, flex plate (and crank adaptors) and bellhousing from a Range Rover /Discovery and an appropriate 2WD box.
4HP22 were fitted to XJ40 Jags and the one I have in the shed does not have a speedo drive.

Rover Powered to 11.63sec @ 128mph.

I agree that it's easier to change over the bellhousing end. I wasn't sure if the input shafts were the same between the various versions.
The Sherpa version has a cable speedo drive, and the most substantial output shaft bearing that I've ever seen!

Also note that the governer is engine specific - it sets the maximum engine speed before an upshift. I have a Volvo governer on my V8, and it upshifts at 6000rpm which is a tad late. The Range Rover one is set for 5500rpm.
