Yep, that is clearly utter madness.
I salute you to your courage.

My 4.6 is bad enough with regards to torque versus grip but this baby will be evil!
Just put it in sixth gear and off you go.

Have you got a live insurance? If so, up the value!

Mike

from what i've researched, the engine is 34.5 inches long, so only about 5 inches longer than the average V8,

Im so jealous. That would go nicely in my mg

the engine is coming from a company that only breaks vipers, the engine they are shipping to me has just 391 miles on the clock, the engine, box and loom is costing $9500, so at the exchange rate as it is now £4750 ish, plus shipping, duty and VAT, comes in with everything at around £6800, not cheap but not to bad when you think its basicly a brand new 500hp engine with a brand new 6 speed, to get this much power and a lower power rated T56 from british american engines you would be looking at nearer £10,000, and the beauty of using the viper engine, i will be the first and different.

me an my mate are looking forward to seeing the faces at the local dodge dealer when we take it for its first service, seeing as its only got 391 miles, it will need its first service soon, and seeing as its a bog standard engine i can take it to the main dealer!!!!!!!!!

hehehehe. keep ya foot off the noise peddle. The crank will stay still and the car will start spinning round because of the torque reaction.

I don't suppose you know how different in size your T56 box is to a "standard" T5?

Thinking 6 gears in the Griff might be fun...

I understood (from some research I did a while ago) with the T56 there are 3 versions all have the same case two have the same main shaft the third has an extra thick jobby.
Chevy standard main shaft .62 to 1 6th gear relativly low 1st gear
Ford version standatd mainshaft .5 to 1 6th gear relativly high first and close ratios for gears 1 to 4
later Monaros and equivelent I think used the .5 to 1 box but I am not 100% sure
the Dodge box I think is the one with the stronger main shaft and internals used on the viper (and I think some mad SUV).
All though use the same case, some changes in tail shaft and (obviously) bell housing.
Now to be shot down in flames :mob

the thing is, 1500 hp out of a viper engine is easy, 7psi on the standard engine give you 850hp AT THE WHEELS!!!!!!!!!! so thats about 1000hp at the flywheel

and the standard gearbox will take a 1000hp

well i've been playing with 24v cosworths for years and wanted something a bit different, can't remember how i found out i could get viper engines of the shelf but when i did i thought, i got to have me one of them, thing is, everyone has done the V8 thing, and i am thinking if it get enough interest i could start a business supplying exotic engines and/or building different/exotic kit cars, if i don't get interest then i've had the grin factor of all grin factors for as long as i keep the car,
