IAT sensor position

Post by DaveEFI »

When I fitted Megasquirt to my flapper 3.5, I replaced the flapper with a bit of tube and fitted the IAT sensor to that. But it seems it may not be the ideal position for a management system that relies on MAP.

Where have others put it?

My IAT sensor is in a rubber joiner just before a stainless elbow on the inlet to the plenum, seems to work fine.

I know some IAT's suffer from heat soak, are your exhausts headers nearby?

There is a feature with tuner studio where you can adjust for heat soak with the IAT. Haven't used this though.

What symptoms are you getting with yours?

It's normal (I think!) to have the IAT in the same housing as the MAF, so I can't see why it should be a problem. The air is going that damn fast through it, I don't suppose it matters where you put it.
