An electric poump will still need to use the same mechanical aspect in order to pump oil.

SO there are 2 potential wear and failure aspects.

The electric drive motor ( and wiring etc )

And the mechanical side which would wear in exactly the same way as a conventional pump would

My Morris did 5000+ miles with an electric Davies Craig water pump before I sold it, and the new owner did several thousand miles more, but then one day a flake of rust jammed the pump solid. He was going slow at the time, managed to stop the motor in time, but it showed just how fragile that pump could be. he stripped it, cleaned it, and it ran again with no problems.

No modern car comes with a mechanical cooling fan, and one day all cars will have electric pumps, oil and water.

Unless petrol engined cars are outlawed before then. :(
