upside down?

Post by Garth84x »

Still in the process of fitting a 3.5RV8 into my mk2 granada, still have the standard 2.8 auto radiator (with oil cooler at the bottom) will this be man enough to cool the V8?

And also the connections on the rad are on opposite sides for the V8 so could i mount it upside down maybe for the time being?

I have a stage III 4.6 in a Cobra replica, it has a sierra 2.3 diesel rad fitted up side down. I run the lump at 75-80 degrees, the 14" pacet fan only kicks in when in traffic. The stat is a 74 degree jobbie.

My oil cooler was separate to the rad, does your fitment mean that the oil cooler will now be above the rad?

Anyway I believe that coolers can be fed from the bottom or top, having the inlet and outlet at the top means that the trapped air is more likely to escape.

I ran a 2.8 granada rad for a long time without much problem, I only upgraded to a alloy copy of a Granada one because my mate was selling it very cheap,
as long as you are not looking to upgrade the tngine to 300hp, the rad should be fine

Turn it upside down, and you will immediately notice that the connections didn't magically unsolder themselves and change sides.

(That's assuming they are diagonal to each other as normal?)
