rocker outrigger posts
hiya all,
finally after 3ks wait, some new rocker outrigger posts arrived.
But is the rocker that fits in the outrigger gap, supposed to have quite a lot of clearance.
As the sideways movement of the rocker seems excessive to me.
Its about a 1.5mm gap....and all my rockers are the correct with.
So what can i do with the gap....fit the spring washer that normally goes on the end of the shaft...or make a spacer...or just leave alone.
Is this normal??
cheers

So you are running JED outrrigger post?
I have got similar setup (same proplem as you have). I bought 4 valve spring shim first, a 1mm thickness shim. + i have to machine ID slightly because it is too small.
My local engineering "machine shop" say that there should be about 0,3-0,6mm clearance. I have got also solid spacer with all rocker, and there are about 0,4-0,5mm clearance..
I recon that you made/buy some spacer, the spring washer make more resistance and eat also some horses..

On this subject- can you get heavy duty/thicker walled rocker shafts to save buying outriggers? I am using Crane double springs (don't know the rating) but obviously a lot more force than std- and the cam has .5" lift so it will be working the valve train!
Basically I'm just wondering whether to buy or make some up- or if I can just get some decent shafts!
