Wiring up starter solenoid

Currently wiring things up. To the solenoid, I have the main red +ve feed from the battery onto the 6mm stud. Also from this stud, I am running the D+ wire to the alternator.

Now here's where I'm a little stuck - I have the lead from the ignition to wire to the solenoid, but where do I put this ? There are 2 spade connectors at 12 O'clock and 6 O'Clock on the solenoid and for the life of me I don't know which one to do and they're not marked up. Also, should I be running an earth lead from the solenoid to the chassis, presumably from the other spade connector ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, it's Friday nite n' all that... but doesn't D+ go to ignition switch/warning light? B+ is the heavy output from the alt that goes to battery pos or starter?

Sorry no idea about the rest, but post what motor/starter combo and no doubt someone'll be along with an idea before long.

yeah - sorry you're right, i got confused (as usual) the heavy wire is runnng from alternator to battery +ve via starter solenoid and is not D+

i'll get more details tomorrow

i need help with this also, got the heavy wire on and the ign, whats the other spade for? ground?

You have the thick wire for the 12v from battery.

A normal spade terminal for the solenoid feed (which should be fed via a relay also)

Then a smaller spade terminal which is live 12v during cranking - this goes back to your [ballasted] ign coil and provides a direct 12v feed to give a stronger spark only during cranking.

Sorry, im still confused about this...

have the heavy wire from the battery. a wire to the ign terminal, where does the other terminal go? to the battery also?

Got the starter turning the engine, exept it does it permenent when i put the battery terminal on?

The solenoid has two terminals, one has the feed to the actual motor - ignore that one. The battery feed goes onto the other one.

I'm not sure if there's one or two spades, but one of them is the supply from the ignition switch start position.
