Thanks for the replys I am considering buying a 3.9 or 4.0 litre engine for my sand rail, which is the better engine I have the chance to buy a 4.0 litre engine complete which has a distributor and covered 84000 miles with an auto box can I put the flywheel from my existing 3.5 P5B engine :?:

Engine changes

What is the benefit of using a 180 edelbrock manifold against a 360 offenhauser.
Also how difficult is it to do away with the fuel injection and go back to a carb & manifold what wiring mods are involved I already have an electric fuel pump fitted

Thanks for response what sort of BHP can I expect from a 3.9/4.6 engine. Clearance is not an issue weight is as the engine is mounted behind rear wheels

compatable engines

Ive got a 3.5 p5b block with an adaptor plate and modified flywheel on to a type 1 beetle irs gearbox would this bolt on to any rover v8 block as I know of a supercharged 4.2 RR lump that is available :?:

Engine problems

I am looking for advice on which way to go I have a tired P5B bottom end with SDI heads which i am lead to believe have been rebuilt an offenhouser 360 manifold and a tired Holley 390 cfm carb, the bottom end rumbles until oil pressure picks up 50 psi cold less than 5 psi hot needs a new water pump ...

I,m running a beetle based rail with a P5 bottom end and SDi vitesse heads, if I can get it running cool enough can I bring it along it will need a high level fan as rad is 3ft up at back of car also can I have some advice on setting up a 390 cfm holley carb as it is running very rich will post some...

thanks for the help, large picture 1&4 shows small pipe from thermostat housing connecting onto back of water pump, large picture 2 shows return from rear of manifold connecting onto water pump return, would it be worth while fitting an adjustable valve to restrict the flow on the return pipe
