Mike, you've probably hit the nail on the head - I like the look of the 4-barrel for this project It's going to be a automatic cruiser, so for now I need to scrimp on spend; http://www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/garage/scimitar-based-vanguard-pickup-thing-manchester-area-63660/page5 Some great advice tho...

That's very a good point, and may go some way to explain why people fit a Weber 38DGAS as that is also 2 barrel My understanding is opening / cutting the top off gives an "open plane" for the fuel to distribute from a 4-barrel carb ? I'm parts missing from the SU set up, hence going the Ho...

Dirty grey one on the right is SD1 - I dismantled the whole engine. Not sure where the silver one came from.

Still not sure which one to chop - hopefully someone has done before and can lead me in the right direction ???

Machining a Rover V8 Inlet Manifold for a Holley 390

I know it has been done, and I have a machine shop in work who will do for a box of Stella... but which one is best to machine down. Guessing one is Range Rover, the dirty one is from an SD1 From the limited info on the internet, one of these is trickier due to waterways, but which is which ?! The d...

It would help if the engine mount bolts were tightened... Dohh!

Plus, the water pump pulley is a tad out of alignment, drives fine, so not going to worry about it

Prop shaft length, ie spline depth?

My works welders and lathe guys are about to splice my Land Rover & Scimiter prop shafts; they're more than capable, but I will need to balance after. My question is in relation to the total length of the shaft in relation to the Rover splined UJ: The spline bit slides in; from a static position...

Right, new leads fitted... no change, still a shake at 1700rpm. So, in my mind, that's electrical ruled out. I had the flywheel lightened in my engineering workshop, not too much, just a light skim. So the balance theory is quite possible; it isn't noticeable when driving. To be fair, it's only a li...

It's just as the revs when parked rises to 1500-1700 rpm, then is seems to lessen.

Once foot of the pedal and it drops back to idle, all is fine

I'll test leads, or swap for a spare set I have and see if there's a difference. My hunch / hope is a weak lead or shorting- TBA

Can really tell, it's in a Cobra kit car with rock hard suspension.... everything shakes when it gets going.

It isn't noticeable when moving as such, why, what you thinking?

Rover V8 juddering on fast idle (1500-1700 RPM)

This may have been happening for a while, I only spotted a few days ago, and car is still driving OK Idles OK, but as I creep the revs up when parked, the engine judders / shakes / vibrates. I noticed it through feedback on the gear-stick when in neutral. The shudder seems to disappear once past the...

RV8 breathing, flame trap, PCV... is there a right way ?!

I've done a search, and read loads of answers, but still confused: I've a rebuilt 1980's 3.5 RV8 running a Weber 500: The hole at the back of the block just has a £5 vent to atmosphere 1 x rocker feeds a pipe to the underside of the air filter 1 x feeds a pipe to the vacuum on the carb Do I need a f...
