On the opposite rear cheek to the starter hole, you can see a blanking plug. This is the location of the GEMS crank sensor. http://www.cowdery.org.uk/images/v8rebuild/DSCF3378.JPG And from the rear of the engine. Some black sealant obscures it a bit: http://www.cowdery.org.uk/images/v8rebuild/DSCF3...

Ok. Thanks. I think I'm ok for the cam sensor now...had a good look round my front cover and just need to bore a hole in the cover to accept a senior. But really want to see a gems cam wheel. Rear crank sensor and ring still a bit of a mystery and wonder if my block is suitable. In the pics above, I...

RV8 OEM cam and Crank sensor images

Hi-posted this to the back of a previous thread, so apologies if that's not the done thing... Basically, I'm looking for a picture of the (GEMS?) 4.6 crank sensor and ring set up (and Cam sensor and wheel if possible). I'm looking to add the crank and cam sensor to a TVR 500 enigne and want to use o...

There was never a 4.6 manual from Land Rover, all the 4.6's were auto. There were 4.0 manuals though. I used the GEMS pickup on the flywheel with MegaJolt. I alsu used the standard pickup. Saves a ton of faffing around with the crankshaft pulley. One issue is the position of the 'missing tooth', in...

Crank balancing in Essex...

Looking for a GOOD engine balancer in the Southend or South East Essex area for a TVR crank. So far been told Elmsleigh Engineering...who pointed me toward Chris Applebee...who wasn't interested as it's a car crank...who pointed me toward 'some guy' in Rayleigh but no phone number or name!! Any idea...

COP - 8 coils wasted spark - 2 coils If the COP coils are 30 quid each and the wasted spark are even 40 quid which is cheaper?! I know which version I will be getting!!!! Also have a look at this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Performance-Fuel-Injection-Systems-Cramer/dp/1557885575/ref=sr_1_1?s=books...

There are basically 2 processors MS 1&2, and three boards V2.2, 3, 3.57 If you're building it, go for the MS2 V3. Not the cheapest option, but can do everything the earlier ones can do plus more - and better. Here's a link to some FAQs:- http://www.diyautotune.com/faq/faq.htm ISTR seeing a tabl...

.... I built an MS1 on a V3 board running MSExtra code..... That's what I meant on my post earlier. I'm sure its a good system and half of me wants to build it myself, but I;ve not yet seen an 'idiots guide' to the various options/versions etc etc. has anyone done one? MS1 vX, Y, Z MS2 vX, Y, Z MS3...

Thanks. Want to use it on RV8 (TVR Griff 500) I *had* intended to use megasquirt, but two things are putting me off: 1. there seem to be lots of versions, options, bolt-ins (solder-ins?) MS version X with daughter board...version Y without, with one reseller offering X and another offering Y but the...

EDIS vs COP pros and cons please

Reading up on Ignition, there seesm to be two ways to go...coil on plug or EDIS module...has anyone done a definative guide to the pros and cons of one vs the other? Reliability, performance, easy of install, cost? Is one favoured over the other depending on the on the ECU, if so, why? Thanks and so...
