I reckon you may be a wire(s) short on your installation. Check the following ECU pins with the connector plugged into the ECU: 15. I/P. Permanent battery supply to ECU, used to retain memory contents. 12. O/P. Switches Engine Load relay on when ign switched on. 2. I/P. Switched battery supply to EC...

Ramon, the trigger signal goes to the ECU via a 6k8 ohm resistor only, it is not switched in any way. Doni, two checks for this trigger signal: Do a continuity check from coil negative to pin 39 of the ECU, should show 6.8k ohms for the resistor and wire. Crank the engine over for 10 secs, check for...

Since the physical size of your Duratec alternator is correct and most likely of ample capacity why not use the Duratec with a replacement external regulator?
Have done this with Lucas ACRs where we couldn't get the standard regulator but had available an external regulator unit from a Dodge Ram.

Depends what you want to put in between the sensor and EDIS8. The EDIS8 requires some intelligence source to tell it when to fire and how much to advance or retard. In a GEMS system this comes from the engine ECU. In it's original innstallation again the EDIS is instructed by the engine ECU. EDIS8 o...

AFIK all hotwire systems used a road speed transducer. Since it is used to guide the ECU software as to when it should manage the idle speed( aside from other uses) there would have been a different version of the software specifically for 3.5 hotwire system. If you are using a 3.5 or 3.9 hotwire sy...

The outlet is threaded internally and externally. Don't bung it, fit a schrader valve. The latest Disco 1 with a 3.9 Hotwire and Serp frontend had this fitting on the fuel rail to simply measurement of the fuel pressure. Warnings. Do not know if the schrader has a special spec because of petrol cont...

You need to be very careful selecting an OBD2 scanner to access the non-emissions part of a Disco 1. OBD2 is primarily supposed to access the engine management system for emissions purposes, Land Rover, like many other manufacturers extended the OBD2 mission in their own sweet way, not to any intern...

In answer to your original question, I know not whether the SD1 had a fuel return line fitted, most likely but Ramon can tell you that answer. A fuel return line will cure most vaporisation problems that you may have. As you turn the key to start fresh cool fuel from the tank replaces any vapour in ...

The Lumenition Kit was designed to replace a simple points type ignition system using a coil of 1.0 to 1.5 ohms or more resistance. The coil current is thus set to around 10 amps and the Lumenition coil switching transistor will be rated to that level. More modern electronic ignition systems use coi...

Certainly as far as hotwire is concerned the signal used is not the 12-0-12 voltage at the coil neg but the backemf generated by the coil when the current is stopped. The flapper may be the same. You will also need to collect the signal from all four coils on EDIS8. I have seen a suggestion of passi...

One of the terminals on the ballast resistor is for connection to the starter solenoid, (small tag). This connection provides battery voltage to the coil pos while the starter solenoid is operated and the engine cranks. Check out the 35DE8 wiring diagram posted on here during the last couple of mont...

If you fit cats then you need to fit EFi to control the fuel mixtures accurately enough to protect the cats from damage. Mixtures that are too rich will cause the cats to overheat and destroy themselves. Do you need to have cats fitted or merely be able to demonstrate low emissions figures on your a...
