3500 14 bolt heads.. But why the extra holes ??

Post by mgbv8 »

I've got some heads on a 3500 I bought to freshen and re sell. But the heads have tappings and plugs in the blank mouldings just above each exhaust port?

What are they for! EGT sensors??

Just cut one of them in half in the DIY porting thread - not an uncommon thing by all accounts and probably pulse air - air pump things for smog control.

Thanks Royston!
I've had about 20 assorted RV8's over the last 10 years and this is the first time I've seen this. It came from a Landrover I think.

I'd like to know more about this if anyone has info or pics etc..

Could be for the US market. They are big on emissions controls.

Hi Perry
are they P6 or "SD1" heads, if they are P6 they could be off a 101FC or a stage 1 V8 (military ambulance). If they are "SD1" heads then probably off a SA or US spec landy. . . . not sure if that helps at all but you may have to answer questions abou them when you come to sell on.
Best regards

Thats the "Pulsair" system that was fitted to Range Rovers etc, as stated above it basically put fresh air in the exhaust to improve emissions.
