Thor Inlet manifold on a 3.5
What would be result of fitting a Thor inlet manifold (from a 4 litre) to a 3.5 Vitesse unit? That's assuming it would fit both the engine and under the bonnet.
My car is an auto, so low and midrange torque is more important than out and out BHP.

Once you have the fueling sorted probably a little more low down torque, though it may make no measurable differance at all depending on what the spec of the rest of the engine is. Certainly the overall effect would be less than fitting the whole 4 litre engine!

Front face of thor manifold can be drilled and tapped to take a standard thermostat housing after removal of the water pipe, and the water hole can be enlarged to allow a thermostat to fit easily. Heater offtake pipe adjacent to rear of stat then needs a boss welding in to allow fitment of the temp gauge sender. One lug (coil pack mount) then needs removing at the rear to allow a hotwire fuel rail, pressure reg and injectors to fit straight in.
Did this mod to a landrover 110 I used to own, with a 4.7 engine and a Lund (sorry, shouldn't swear, lol) LE1 camshaft. Excellent torque, but it ran out of steam at 4500rpm!
No issues with dizzy clearance either.

I asked this question because there was a complete set - everything above the heads including wiring loom and ECU - on Ebay, with no interest. So I won it for a song, and collected it at the weekend.
I'm already running an MS2 V3 and EDIS on my Vitesse engine, so it will make a nice little winter project.
It occurred to me that BMW wouldn't have gone to all this trouble if there were no tangible benefits. I can see these might be mainly at the bottom end - but that's what I'm after. The port sizes below the top part appear to be no bigger - at a glance - that the EFI ones, so I shouldn't have problems with slowing the velocity.
Of course simply fitting a larger engine is the easy route to more torque - but I don't have a garage or even off street parking let alone a hoist or the room to store one.
I have a spare set of heads and may do something about the gas flow at the same time. Or have that done if it doesn't cost too much. Any tips - again with a view to not just going for maximum power at sky high revs?
I use exclusively Super Unleaded so wondered about increasing the CR?
