cam followers

Post by barginbucket »

ok folks, basically ive checked/adjusted the cam timing[224] on my 4.0ltr,800 mile rebuilt sd1 lump,i know i set the pre load on the followers wrong  so after cam retiming i removed rockers to adjust,i noticed that when i push down on the pushrods, some followers are solid and some have about 1-3mm of travel,
is this the norm ?,do some bleed down then pump up when running, they were new[piper,]but no info with them, and will this make any difference to valve/piston clearance
hope you can picture what i mean,
many thanks to you all

nothing new there then

you will need to strip the lifters and drain them of oil before you can set the preload again as they need to be empty of oil.
