Hi,Hope the wealth of knowledge on this forum can help me locate a crankshaft position sensor from a Rover v8 SD1 3.5L.
I am currently fitting this engine into my Triumph GT6 MK3 & am running the 35DLM8 distributor. However the crankshaft position sensor & alloy mounting bracket is broke.Looked all over the internet & cant seem to locate one.Anyone got any ideas please.HELP
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

hi mate,
the 3.5 does not use a crank position sensor,
the sensor your referring to is for the BL diagnostic tool,
does it fit down by the power steering pump bracket by any chance?

The engine is in the gt6 now & not using power steering so I dont know the physical location of the power steering bracket your refering to.
The sensor was on a bracket directly at 3 o clock (as you view the engine from the front)and has two wires that run to the BL diagnostic socket you refered to.I had always assumed that this had a function which was related to the timing in the distributor.Have I got this wrong & should have no need for this sensor in order to start the engine.

you dont need that sensor mate to start the engine,
its for Rover when they plug there diagnostic machine in its for checking the timing etc.
i have never ran any of my 3.5 v8's with it on.
good luck

Thanks very much.Your advice was greatly appreciated.I can stop wasting time trying to figure that part out now.
Just to push my luck, can you tell me which way the two wires coming out of the amplyfier on my 38dlm8 go to the coil.I have one red & one black which have obviosly got to go to the coil + & -.
Is it as obvious as red to + & BLACK TO -
