3.9 with later front cover, running on S.U's plumbing issues
Hi this is my first post even though i joined a while back, heres the problem. Just put a 3.9 with carb's into my 101 landrover. Now ive come to sort the plumbing out the later front cover has no take off's for the heater system like the earlier front cover has. I was thinking of taking a T piece off the top and bottom radiator hose's, to feed the heater/lpg vapouriser. Should do the job ?

Your idea is not ideal as there will be no flow until the thermostat opens and then the flow will depend on the restriction of your radiator.
Has your inlet manifold got a water outlet at the rear? If so, feed this to the heater and take the other heater pipe to the bottom hose.
If you have the later water pump, ie the type that runs anti clockwise, then it's possible to drill and tap the bottom hose ali snout for a 3/8""ntp connector and make the connection there rather than having a Tee in the bottom hose.

I think I may have solved the same problem, viz. a late (GEMS / Thor Range Rover P38) front cover and a carburettor inlet manifold.
Basically, the top hose is as-is, i.e. manifold to rad. No thermostat fitted.
The small hose on the front of the manifold I think I blanked off (will have to check on this one).
The hose on the rear of the manifold goes to a T piece. One branch to the heater, the other to the LPG vapouriser. The return from both these goes to the P38 bottom-hose thermostat. I fitted an expansion tank feed into the top-hose.
I'll check over the w/e.
Chris.
