min diameter for idle air valve pipe?

What do you guys think is the min dia i can get away with for my iac plumbing?
4.6 rover v8 using a Bosch valve.
Hoping to use a spare inlet on the plenum base, its about 8mm id! Would that flow enough for cold idle?

8mm will work, but it may whistle at you. 12mm should be silent under all conditions.

Thanks for that i'll give it a go. Not really to worried about a whistle as I've got side exhaust pipes near by! To use12mm would be a headache...
