RPI recommended set-up Weber 500

Post by mk1storm »

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what RPI's recommended rod/jets are for a 3.5 RV8 in a Weber 500?

Reason for asking is that I bought a almost new 500 with RPI set-up for a 3.5 and am putting it onto my 3.9l, Offy JWR manifold, hurricane cam, 4-branch exh and wondered if...

a) it'd be ok on the RPI settings but if not

b) what the RPI settings are and what they should be changed to based on people's experience here?

Cheers guys.

I think RPI's settings for a 3.5 are 83 primary jet and 6252 needle. (stock is 86 primary jet and 6552 needle)

I tried RPI's setting on my 3.5 and it was too lean when in 'power' mode (rod up). Not surprising when RPIs suggested jets attempt to lean off the power mode more than the cruise mode. Actually I found my 3.5RV8 needed the opposite - a nice lean cruise with a richer power mode.

Running a holley 390 now because I got fed up of the weber leaking fuel out of the accelerator pump rod hole when hard cornering! Stupid design!
