Dave Lodge
Hi and welcome,
have you a return pipe back to the tank?
what psi is the pump running at?
is the float height set correct?

Re: SU Carburetta over flowing
Likely the float valve dirty or worn. Easy and cheap to change. Check also the float isn't leaking - ie has petrol in it.lodgedavid wrote:Does anyone know what might cause the carburetta to overflow when I turn the ignition on? it didn't used to happen, is only recent problem. It is a Rover V8 engine, the SU carburettas have been reconditioned but it is still happening. FYI, the engine is fitted in a Triumph Stag, and it has already had a new electric fuel pump fitted, but this didn't cause problem because it was happening before this. Any help gratefully recieved.
