Rover Con-Rod Bearing?

Post by kokkolanpoika »

Hi..

Does anybody know what con-rod bearing i can use my rover if i buy that kind con rods?(only difference is Eagle rods and lenght)
I´m thinkink to stroke my 4,6 engine to 5.0 or 5.3. And i need some information of con rod bearing system, because con-rods need some machining to suit rover crank?
Is it possible to use std rover 3,5engine (2" rod journal pin) con rod bearing, or is it possible to machine some material away from chevy bearing? ~1,5mm from both side? Rover bearing width is ~18mm and chevy is ~21mm..
Any wild ideas.. :D

I see no reason why reducing width would be a problem.

But whats wrong with using Rover bearings ?
9.85 @ 144.75mph
202mph standing mile

Why don't you phone Paul at V8 tuner and find out? He sells the rods so will know for sure.

If using chevy rods you have to use the chevy shells as the locating tags are in a different place to the rover shells. You can shave the rods and shells down to the rover rod width and the recess the shell at it's edges. This assumes you are using a 2" crank pin a a small journal chevy rod. I did this for Hairbear.

I'm not sure if the large journal chevy rod can be used with the 4.0/4.6 crank as I haven't tried that.
