Hi All,
I have finaly got all the welding done on the car.
The question is wether i should use a balance pipe or not? the curent set up hasent got one but it is joined at the back box..
what i intend to do is come out of the hedders pipe for each side then a single cherry bomb poking out each side just before the back wheel's
thinking i should use a balance pipe but not sure how much difrence it makes and where the best place to stick it is?
Any help would be good
also note this car will be suppercharged soon not sure if that makes a difrence?
Cheers

Hi the best place for the balance pipe is is about 4 to 6 inches from the collector, diameter should be about 3/4 that of the pipe it joins into, though not too critical down to about half diameter and up to same size, but it being a bit smaller can also help fitting it in under the car.

Hi
the power increase isn't generally very much, and depends on cam duration, on a mild tune engine maybe 3-5 on something more radical maybe 6-12, what it does do is get you more power down just off idle but most of all smoothes out the power curve filling in all the dips making the engine more drivable especially on a highly tuned engine.

Hi Derek
IMO you must you a balance pipe.
As it is so tight under the Manta the only real place you can get one in is just behind the gearbox.
My B/P is the same size as the main system and with the engine running it sounds very mellow and smooth.
A mate of mine some years ago ran without one and it sounded very harsh and never seemed to run as sweet as some of the other Mantas.
cheers
