Could anyone tell me what size and what thread type the main bearing cap bolts are?I have a slightly damaged thread in the block and would like to run a tap down it.Thanks Nick

I do not know Nick but if I am not certain I usually turn the bolt 2-3 turns through the die I think is right to check the size.

9/16" UNC comes to mind but I'd have to check when I'm in the workshop later

Is that the alloy one that's kind of triangular?

I think the 3.9 runs the interim cover? If so then yes.

Very very few 3.9 engines ran the interim cover.

P6 alternator bracket isn't going to work for it either unless you extend it or fit an SD1 front cover and P6 pump.
