hi all, does anyone know what the clarke 12 ton hydraulic pipe bender is like, i need to make some manifolds and need afew bends, there £105 in machine mart,they bend 2" od pipe, any help on these please :D rich.

You wont bend exhaust pipe with it without crushing the bend, you need a mandrill bender for exhausts ££££. You can get away with it if you hard pack the pipe with fine sand, weld the pipe ends, bend and then cut it all apart but in reality it still doesn't work very well.

I agree I loked at a mandrel bender - cheapest I saw was £6000 - at that price I paid someone to make the set for the 40

bones, buy a box of bends and make em up for less yourself. If you got welding facilities this is the way to go. I bought some 1 3/4" pipes on ebay for 80 quid and that included more than enough for a pair of headers.

Also www.whengparts.com does header kits (he laser cut me some flanges...)

I'm using 1 1/2" nominal bore 'industrial' schedule 40 weld elbows and pipe to make my manifolds with....

That's never going to rust through is it 8-)

What's the wall thickness, about 1/8"?

well ive had a busy day and ive found out 2 things, i can get a complete kit ,flanges,collectors, 1 3/4" tube for £215, or someone can do the manifolds for about £600, :D rich

just out of curiosity what engine is it that your using 1 3/4 headers?

its a sbf 302 going upto a 347, forged crank rods and pistons, and 200 shot of gas, engine will be about 400+ bhp, been adviced 1 5/8" headers are to small for it. :D rich

Ah makes sense, thought for a mo it was a rover engine :oops: Should be a nice engine that.

i hope so, got some ally pro 1 dart heads on saturday,i wasnt going the 347 route just a strong 302, but ive been lucky and the engine is a 1974 and they are strong enough, :D
