THM700R4 Conversion
I recently bought an 88 chevy 1500 4x4 with a bad transmission. I already have a 700R4 from my iroc. My plan is to take the output shaft from my 4x4 case and put it in my 2 wheel drive tranny. Problem is, i havent rebuilt an automatic transmission since i completing my auto mechanics classes in 2000. Im hoping someone has a manual that walks me through it step by step

they are quite easy to work on.
The manual will tell you to remove the valve body, so you can remove a dowl peg that holds the band in place - but it is possible to get it apart for the tail shaft swap without touching the VB.
Basicly remove the front pump and then the servo on the side and the lockup solenoid - and you should be able to wiggle the drum out around the band.
Once the input housing is out, you lift out the remaining parts and remove the circlip and the output shaft will drop out.
Unless the box is in really good condition - I would do a full rebuild anyway upgrading key weakspots.
In other words, full seal kit, transgo shift kit, corvette or billet servo ,new steels and clutches, .500 boost valve and a Z-Pack 3/4 pack.
