EDIS8

Post by disco-v8 »

well when i finaly get my head around how mega squirt works, ill be changing my prince of darkness dizzy to ford EDIS.....

... first off is there an actual one unit edis 8 or do you need 2 edis4's and wire them together????

how would this work? would 2 of them fire together and work like a wasted spark on 1 cylinder and ignite another of the cylendersor, or can you make all 8 fire individually????

will the mega squirt II be able to work this out????

thanks for the help

If you are using EDIS8 controller (which the Meagsquirt will take charge of) you can use either 1xEDIS8 coilpack, or 2x EDIS4 coil packs as far as i know. You cannot use 2x EDIS4 controllers to control the coils in an 8 cylinder config though.

Not sure of the case if you are using the MS to trigger the coilpacks directly, but my hunch is that MS will happily work with either 2x4 coils or 1x8.

Best bet is to wait for someone on here with more knowledge to come along, or try asking FridgeFreezer on the LR4x4 forum...

But this is all based on what i have read on the net so i could be talking utter rubbish  .

I personally am going to go for Megajolt- the ignition side only controller as i will be running twin SU's and single point LPG.

dont think there is any such thing as a 1x8 ford coil pack. Just use 2x4's as they are dead easy to source in the UK from any 90's ford.
You cant use 2xedis4's (James Murray did look at it but not really took to far)
Contact Bill Shurvinton on this board, he may have one. When you get the edis4 packs, grab the edis4 connector as you can use the pins if you fancy making up the leads rather than splicing.
