Torque Convertor - refill

Post by Dangerdoc »

Dropped a new engine into a RRC 1987 3.5 EFi Auto. When the old donk was removed and the Torque convertor was attached we took it off.

Naturally it bled a little and lost about one litre of oil.

Just been thinking all the way through the installation before firing it up for the first time.

It was then that a spark of doubt entered the old brain - we never filled it back up - when I pour ATF into the filler tube in the engine compartment will this fill the Torque convertor as well.

It's amazing how many things go through your head when you take on a project that originally was a simple "swap out".

Scaring the pants off me now.

It will get filled up almost instantly as soon as you start the engine.

Don't worry. I've generally fitted them empty as it's easier!

Ensure that the engine is running in park/N whilst topping it up - run it through all the gears and then re-check.
