Co 2 reading on a Standard Rover V8 with Twin SU's

Can anybody tell me what the Co 2 reading on a Standard Rover V8 with Twin SU's should be.

Hello Chris,

The workshop manual for the Rover P6B of 1968 - 1976 gives a CO 2 reading at idle of 4%.

This however is far richer than it needs to be! Adjusting the mixture screws, which alters the idle mixture to give a reading in the range of 2.5 to 3% CO 2 is much better.

Trial and error is the key.

got mine at 3.4% at the minute and seems to running not bad, did drop it to 2.5% and it was a bit hesitant to rev from idle but once it 1750 rpm it was fine.

I'll keep tweeking it as I drive and see how it runs best.

The hesitation off idle at 2.5% CO shows that figure for your engine is too lean, so as you experiment with the idle mixture, the setting which provides crisp hesitation free acceleration off idle will be the right mixture setting.

Don't know which one, got an gas analyser that measures the gases from the exhaust.

Will adjust idle mixture and see what happens.

Going to be changing manifold and carb soon, getting rid of the Su's, just trying to get it to run slightly better.

CO is the normal check when doing emissions
