I'm thinking of buying a 4.6 Range Rover.
Anything specific to look out for on the 4.6 lump? I'm thinking cracked/dropped liners mainly, but anything else, and is there any way of diagnosing dropped liners on what will probably end up being a relatively short test drive, knowing dealers!
Cheers!

White sludge under the oil filler cap is a tell tale sign of coolant getting in with the engine oil.
When starting the engine, listen for any signs of piston slap, as provided the engine is cold, if evident that would point to a droped liner, which would thus suggest a cracked block behind that given liner.
If the engine is already hot, having been for a prior test run, then the slap will not normally be evident, as expansion of the block will hold the liner from moving.
Good luck with your intended purchase.
