Con Rods

Been having a rummage in the shed, My font of wonderful things, and found a set of peend SBC rods, machined to fit the Rover, Ive had a quick measure up and they appear to be +0.006 longer than the stock rod, before I pull my frshly built engine apart to fit these, is there any major advantage with these rods over the HRC rods that I have been using without failure, BUT I will be running gas later so Is it worth retro fitting these rods, another thing while Im here, these rods are fully floating I cant remember If my Omegas are circliped or push fit pins into the rods.

Plus side is they look to have arp bolts in them, plus is they will tighten the squish band by .006". Downside is they may be heavier and you need to sort out the floating pin situation. Also, they'll no doubt have a .927" pin bore. Bigger then a typical rover so what size are your piston pins?

Pin size is 0.875" I removed a set of 3.5 pistons from these rods

How much machining is required to get them to fit a rover then?

From memory the rods need to be clearanced on one side as they are too big to fit onto the journal and the little end sleeved down with what looks like a bronze lined "D" bush on the little end,

What are the dims of a Rover rod ?

^ Iirc, 5.660" length as opposed to 5.7" for chevy. Rover takes a 2" crank pin as do early chevy's. Chevy has a .927" pin but can be bushed down to rover size. Across the flats the chevy needs .100" removing to slim it down to the rover width which is .8 something or other, I've forgotten the exact width.

Sounds like Chevy rods all the way then?

Presumably high quality chevy rods are a damn sight cheaper than rover ones

Nest question is what about chevy pistons?
