fitting a 4.6 into a classic range rover 3.9

Post by Pilley »

 Hi,

After spending the last six months welding and replacing most of my pride and joy after a respray the engine has died. (Lost oil Pressure bottom end)
After lookin at the price of rebuilds i have opted for a new 4.6 litre long engine Low compression.
Although i know all ancillaries will fit and the timing cover will have to be swapped to retain the distributor, i am not sure what other mods i will have to do with regards to the timing and ecu chipping or remapping.
Also what used parts will give problems off my old engine.
Also i am running on gas.

Have a look at the RPI engineering website. There is a raft of information available, including the electronics side of the change over from 3.9 to 4.6.

One thing for sure, when it is set up and running as it should, your Range Rover Classic will move like never before, with more pull than you can poke a stick at! :D

You will probably see improved fuel economy too.

Best of luck,
Ron.
