4.0 serpentine engine pulley

Post by Snuggs »

Hi all,

I have just purchased a new 4.0l engine complete with the serpentine front cover and waterpump.
This is to replace my tired p6 3.5l motor in my Luego Viento.

I am aware that the waterpump on the 4.0l runs on the backside of the fanbelt but what I need to know is will the crankshaft pulley from the P6 physically fit on the 4.0l crank.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Clive

The serp water pump runs the other way round. You cannot run a distributor, unless you buy an interim cover. The easy way to run serp apparently is to buy an alt bracket from JE, which allows a short serp belt to drive just the alt & water pump and includes the adjustment itself.

Cheers Dave,

I am using MegaJolt for the sparks and was thinking of using an electric waterpump.

As long as the crank pulley will fit then I should be able to use the P6 alternator/bracket.

I know the crank has a longer nose and a spacer is available when using a pre-serp cover but i'm not sure if it will be required.

The pulley will fit over the crank, and you will need a spacer.

However, whether it will work with the 4.0l front cover, I don't know. I somehow doubt it.

Chris.
