lumenition
I have fitted a lumenition system to my SD1 engine with an accel ignition coil which has a ballast resistor in it. Do I still need to use the BR9 unit? If not can I wire the positive feed and the starter motor lead direct to the coil positive?

I had all sorts of problems running an Accel with Lumention. They just didn't seem to get on at all well. I used the SD1 resistor then tried doing without it but it made little difference. I then changed to a standard Bosch resistor coil and it ran so much better, no more hard starting, missing due to weak spark.
I've since moved onto an MSD 6A with a Blaster2 coil. I still use the Lumeniton optical trigger in the dissy, but the module is replaced with an MSD interface.

Thank you for your reply. I'm not having any trouble starting it ( not yet)
I just wasn't sure about running two ballast resistors together.
Also I'm not convinced the br9 resistor is 100% working properly.
Incidently we are hoping to be in Adelaide in six to twelve months
with my Manta A V8!
thanks simpson.
