Starters - yes again

Post by Wee_chris »

I'm getting on great with the Spitfire project, at the weekend I test fitted the body back on the chassis and decided to move the car. So I dropped the inner down through the column tube and it did not quite get to the rack.

Yup, you guessed its hitting the solenoid on the starter.

Is there a starter I can get with the solenoid underneath?

It does not have to be high torque as long as I can steer and the engine gets turned over for starting I'll be happy.

If there is such a starter, does any one have one for sale? Cant buy new at the minute as the car fund is pretty low.

Thanks in advance

Chris

SD1 starter is what your after, they are heavy but the solenoid is underneath. P5-6 is probably the same but I have never seen one so am not sure.
