I need to move my alternator on my 3.9 serp v8 as its fouling the bonnet,
any ideas for a new place for Alt and or tensioner,i dont have air con only P/S pump.
Looks like the alt/tensioner sits on a seperate casting is there a swap from another vehicle perhaps(tvr)?
your thoughts please.

you could move it to wherever it will fit but you will have to run a pulley there in its place so the belt keeps its route to drive the water pump. So far as I know all serp engines have the alternator in the same place so off the shelf parts aren't going to be easy if even possible. Convert to the older cover and there are lots of possibilities using standard parts.
Pretty much just a bolt on with a crank spacer to adjust for the different length crank. Downside is you don't have as good an oil pump although thousands survive perfectly well with them. Your probably better with an SD1 cover to keep everything low. You will easy get a set of these pulleys/brackets and the alternator hangs bellow the head gasket line on the left bank looking at the front. I have no doubt you will could move the serps stuff but it will take a bit custom fab work.
Been havin a play about today, ive taken the alternator & tensioner assy off and bolted on the alternator bracket from an sd1 this lowers the alt and moves it over to the left (lookin from the front)
What i need is a tensioner/pully that will mount on top of the sd1 bracket so its off to the local bearing shop.
As a by the by ,one of my customers has a tvr chimera, now looking at that the alternator sits lower almost touching the water pump and the pully sits out to the left,so maybe thats another option i would have to measure it out,but at least i have a few options to play with.
