Offy manifold water temp sender

I believe my water temp sender has packed up. The sender screws into a Offy 360 manifold on my Rover V8. Anybody know if this is a special fitting or will a standard sender unit do the job?

if im correct its the standard sender,
earth the temp wire out to the engine and see if the gauge goes up, if it does its the sender, if it dont move then its a wiring problem,
