Firstly I'd like to apologise, as every post I have put up has been HELP ME!!! Unfortunatly this is no different!!!
Right, I've got a 3.5 rover lump in a hilux & I'm just about getting round to starting work on it....... first thing I want to do is get the engine running in the truck before I pull it out to (rebuild if it needs it) and drop it in to my Mk3 hilux!
The issue I have got at the moment is oil pressure, or lack of!!! I've tried priming the system by removing the dizzy, getting a 13mm socket on to the pump drive pin & spinning it with a drill...... this didn't work! from here I took out the pressure sensor to see if there was any iol in that region, spun the pump again & nothing!! then I took the filter off to eliminate any blockage, spun the pump & nothing. so as a final ditch attempt I put an oil vaccum pump (the things you can use to empty oil through the dipstick tube) on to the centre fitting where the oil filter threads on..... I pumped the handle & I could hear air leaking in the block!! so I then got a mate to help & tried pumping the vaccum thingy with me spinning the pump with a drill & again nothing!!!!
Is there a pick up pipe that can drop off or something that can leak air & stop the pump picking up the oil???
Please help me!!
Cheers

No need to drop the sump - just take the bottom off the oil pump housing . oil pump is integral part of the front timing cover.Jono FD3 wrote:I take it I have to drop the sump then???
The poor thing hasn't been run for 7-8 years you see!!!
How quick a job is this as I'm running out of time on the weekends very very quickly, & with the sh!t weather I cant work on her outside!!!

Don't take this the wrong way, but five minutes searching the past posts in this section will tell you all the answers you need to know about anything to do with Rover oil pumps.Jono FD3 wrote:Firstly I'd like to apologise, as every post I have put up has been HELP ME!!!
