Are 4.6 Internals Forged?

I've read online in some sources that the 4.6 Rover V8 has forged rods and maybe crank?

Are there any fundimental differences between the 3.5 - 3.9 and 4.6?

Nothing special about the construction method of the 4.6. Basically the same as any other mass produced aluminum V8.

While specs might be different, construction and metallurgy is basically the same on all standard Rover V8s.

The 4.6 does have better balancing (internal rather than external) from the factory, also more mass in the crank counterweights & better pistons and cross bolted main caps, so it is a better rotating assembly.
