ARP Head Studs - Issue!!

Post by oneaves2005 »

All,

Has anyone experienced issues with heads lifting using the 124-4003 ARP head stud kits? It appears this is what everyone is selling rather than the later 157-4301 head stud kit which has longer threads.

When I bought a head stud kit from Real Steel for 10 bolt heads they appear to have supplied the earlier kit and just taken the short studs out that would have been used in the 14 bolt heads.

I'm running a race engine NASP with around 380bhp and 12:1 compression and the heads keep losing clamping load although no visible damage I wonder if the threads are pulling in the block a tad due to the short thread of the 124-4003 kit

Any thoughts?

Regards

Ollie

I have got both kit´s, and both stud´s has got same lenght threads..

I´m running 11.8CR with my 393hp street motor. And i use v8 developments compostie 96mm head gasket. They are not good quality like Elring.. And they usually sweat some oil/compression pressure centre on the block..

I will try to use cometic head gasket when i get car back to road..

Witch head gasket you use?

im on cometic gaskets, the UK ARP rep tells me that the 157-4301 kit has around 10mm more thread into the block.......

As long as there are enough threads that you're actually clamping up correctly and not bottoming out, they should work anyway
