V8 tuner supplied my Crower solid cam and lifters but the lifters all have rust on the bases.
He has agreed to take them back but says all his stock is the same and it will take weeks to get others from Crower.
Can i use another make of solid lifter?

Hi
how much rust? if it is just surface rust then I would rub it off with a pan scrub and WD40. I would use cam and lifters from the same manufacturer as they (in theory) will use the same surface treatment on both, that is not guaranteed when mixing manufacturers. If one of the lobes eats itself on run in and the two are not from the same company then I would think there would be very little chance of getting any thing back off either. I would get them to commit to replacement if anything goes wrong if you do take them.
best regards
Mike

Hi
One thought, spending all this dosh on an all forged extra stretched rover why are you not fitting a roller cam? Seems a little odd to me when you will need all the cam "under the curve area" you can get?? and you probably will want to try two or three cams before you find the right one and a roller cam will mean you will not have to replace the tappets with each new cam??
best regards
Mike

I've been using Chevy lifters in my MGB V8 for ages.
