I am taking a block apart in the bench and can't seem to get the main bearing caps to move easily.
It's a x-bolted RV8 (...and yes, I have removed the x-bolts...).
I don't want to just start bashing them about, is there an accepted method -they seem to be stuck pretty tight.

Yes remove the main bolts from the block threads pull up approx half way into the cap and with one hand firmly on each bolt rock front to rear not wildly just so, once you get movement they creep towards you upwards then just remove them as the block registers loose their grip
