Rover V8 Breathing Heavy

Post by nokia_aid »

I just bought a capri with a 3.5 v8 in last week, it came with a rebuilt engine in that had only done 50 miles when i bought the car and now its done about 250miles, problem is it seems to be breathing quite heavily, iv done a compression test and all the cylinders are between 160 and 170 psi which to me seems ok from what iv googled.

iv attached a video let me know what you lot think, (if the vid works)

Is there a breather system on the engine?

Chris.

That looks more like condensation boiling off in the oil to me if you don't run a PCV system then you are likely to get more moisture in the crankcase 8) give it another 1K and see how you get on if you are sure its crankcase breathing/pressure 8-)

it normally has a breather filter in the whole but i took it out so u can see the smoke better

if u hear the misfire in the video ignore that i had put a lead on wrong when i did the compression test just before this video

il defo leave it for 1k though and hope it goes away, can also see if im loosing any water then too

if its condensation boiling off would it not be coming out of both rockers though, theres a small filter on the other side and nothing comes out of that one

i think its fixed now, the other rocker just had a little air filter on it, i took that off and put a pipe to the inlet manifold vacuum and now no mist come out the other breather at all
