SBC & BBC bell housing bolt patterns?

Post by Jono FD3 »

Hi guys,
Does anyone know if there is any difference between the BBC and SBC bell-housing bolt patterns? Basically I picked up a T45 box over the weekend and the adapter plate is drilled for BBC, but was just wondering if the SBC pattern is different or not?

Jono

Hi
they are the same, the LS bolt pattern only differs in that it does not use the centre top bolt (the one you cut off your bell housing when you fit a flexplate shield). :D
Best regards

Just to update this thread, as Mike and I discussed in another thread, it looks like some LS engines do use the top centre bolt, mine certainly does, although mine only uses one of the "45 degree" holes (left side looking at the back of the engine).

However, as we have also discussed you can use a BBC 621 style bellhousing with the LS series quite happily with 5 of the 6 bolts fitted.
