Rover V8 3.9 (Carb) Fuel Line Size
All
Apologies if this is covered somewhere else, have done a quick search but I am new to this, so I may have missed it!
I am after the fitting size I need to connect the fuel in and fuel return line to the inlet manifold?
Thanks
Anton

Hi
I think it is about 3/8 thin wall pipe but they are push on rubber pipe over brass pipe and jubilee clip jobbies. . . -6 Jic/AN fittings if you are prettying it up but that gets expensive (and I should know you would not believe what I have spent with Torques UK in the last year
)
Best regards
Mike

Thanks for that!
I know what you mean about expensive, due to the small space inside the MK2 MX5 engine bay, I am having to relocate the oil filter, I spent far far too much money on billet ally jobies from torques!
In terms of fitting an AN6 hose, would I then tighten this up with a jubilee clip or can you get an adapter for a proper AN fitting?
Thanks
Anton

Hi
If it were me I would either stay with rubber pipe and the brass pipe as fitted as standard, or drill the inlets to the carbs 3/8 NPT (if they will) and use a 3/8 NPT to -6AN fitting. you could go 3/8 brass pipe to to 3/8 NPT / BSP femail fitting (like on a brake pipe) that in turn adapted to a -6 AN/JIC fitting but I do not know who does such bits
actually you can get -6 flaired pipe fittings but you need the flairing tool, 37 degree is not common, but that would let you go direct from stainless braided pipe with a -6 male fitting to the carb nice and neatly. I would not go via rubber pipe to push on Jic/AN adaptor with jubilee clips holding everything in place, it just looks naf.

Hi
Yes you put a ferule and "nut" on the pipe into the carb then flair the end of the pipe like you would a brake pipe (but at 37 degrees) then fit a -6 male fitting on the end of the braded pipe. I have not done it so I am not sure if you can actually get the tool in to do it!
You can get the fittings from a company in the UK that I can't for the life of me remember their name!

Found them on page 40 of he earls catalogue here http://www.earls.co.uk/e-catalogue/adapters.php
Not the place I was thinking of but they are there

Hi
I would use NPT-T or all AN thread sizes, just because they involve fewer adaptors, BSP-T to AN is across two standards and less common as a series of fittings -6 AN, -6BSP-T and 3/8 NPT are all intended to work with 3/8 OD thin wall steel tube but AN and NTP-T are related in that they are from the same standards organisation. If you need the tap for NTP, they cost a fortune from the UK like £20+ for a 3/8 NPT-T They are are about £6 off E-bay from mainland China including delivery and take about a week to arrive I had one on my door mat 65 hours after placing the order once, I have a pair of 3/4 NPT, first and plug, that cost me £16 including shipping from Hongkong , the cheepest UK I could find was £130 for just the first cut.
Best regards

If you live in the South East
Take your bits into Think Automotive (Twickenham)
Say
I need to connect this to this and this
They go through the back and bring you back the bits, pipes, connectors etc.
Great service
