Holley 390 help...

Post by Jono FD3 »

guys, just got the fuel system primed on the truck, pressure comes up to 5-6psi, but for some reason one of the primaries is dripping fuel in to the chamber, and also there is fuel leaking from between the carb and the inlet manifold for some reason and can't figure out why!!
going to take it off tomoz for a proper inspection, but any sujestions on what it could be?? carb hasn't been used for a fair bit of time, so could it be things just settleing back in?

jono

As it's not been used for some time it could be just the float needle sticking.
Try tapping the top of the float chamber with a small hammer.

If that dosen't work you will need to remove the float chamber for an inspection.

Fuel level may be set to high. The float can be raised or lowered. Remove the plug on the side of the float bowl. The level should be set to the bottom of the hole, ie fuel shouldn't dribble out of the carb through the sight plug hole.

Eta, if it worked fine before then I'll second the 'tapping' suggestion to free a stuck needle. :)

If you have a regulator turn the pressure down to below 4psi
